Diamonds come in many different shapes but by far the most popular is the round brilliant. Other famous cuts include the emerald cut, princess cut, or oval to name but a few.

T.O'D is known for its French Cut diamonds, at 1st glance you may mistake this for a Princess cut but the French Cut has extra facets on the table of the stone to ensure it sparkles from all directions when worn.

With any shaped diamond it is important it is well proportioned to ensure that light entering the stone is properly reflected internally to maximise brilliance and lustre: Cut too shallow or deep and the diamond loses its life and looks glassy and dull.

Old Cut or Antique diamonds whilst not cut to the mathematical precision of modern stones, often have their own unique identity. In days gone by, cutters brought an artistic flair to bring a firey sparkle and rustic symmetry.

Coloured gemstones and diamonds are often cut with special regard to maximising the colour within the stone. Rubies and sapphires are usullay cut deeper to strengthen colour. Radiant or cushion cuts are particulary good at bringing out the natural hues of diamonds.
